c/n EMAC.1 Built 1936. On display at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry Airport, UK. 11-10-2015 The following info is from the Midland Air Museum website:- “The infamous Pou de Ciel (Flying Flea) was designed by Frenchman Henri Mignet in the early 1930s, and first flew in 1933. Henri published a book of plans and claimed anybody could build one, and anybody could fly one - it was widely regarded as the first homebuilt aircraft. Unfortunately some flaws in the design resulted in a number of crashes it was soon banned from flying in the UK. It had, however, kick-started the homebuilt industry and ushered in an era of cheap aviation.” |
