Summary
[edit]DescriptionMidland Mainline - geograph.org.uk - 415624.jpg |
English: Midland Mainline Taken from the Finchley Road, a southbound Midland Mainline train approaches the tunnel that will take it under Hampstead. In the background a northbound Bedford semi-fast is about to pass under the North London Line. These are the fast lines. The slow lines curve to the right and use a separate tunnel on the opposite side of the brick ramp on the right of the photo. The Brick Ramp is the last remnant of Finchley road (Midland) station, which closed in 1927 and was finally demolished in 2003. This photo would have been impossible a few years ago as there were shops, known as Midland Parade, over the tunnel entrance, adjoining the old station building. The area to the left, containing Homebase and parking for the O2 centre was once railway yards. |
