Summary
[edit]DescriptionMiG-29UB F-16D RamsteinAB 1993.jpeg | A German Luftwaffe (Air Force) Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29UB Fulcrum (s/n 29+23, right) next to U.S. Air Force General Dynamics F-16D-30J Fighting Falcon (s/n 87-0383) parked on the flightline at Ramstein Air Base, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, on 11 August 1993. The MiG-29 was from Jagdgeschwader 73 (JG 73) "Steinhoff", based at Laage AB, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, the F-16D from the 86th Tactical Fighter Wing at Ramstein. USAFE General Oaks took a ride in the MiG-29. Following their MiG-29 flight, German Maj. Gassner and USAFE Gen. Oaks reversed roles and embarked on a flight in the F-16. Since the end of the Cold War, armed forces from the east and west were meeting to further understand and strengthen friendships. Such a visit occurred when a MIG-29 from the former East Germany landed and hosted a flight for Gen. Oaks, who returned the favour by giving the German pilot a F-16 ride. |
