Description

Dopo aver fatto l'unità d'Italia ed aver liberato Roma dal papato, la borghesia settentrionale e la nobiltà romana cominciarono a godersi la ricchezza e la potenza conquistate. Il pittore Giuseppe Cellini, dal 1886 al 1888, affrescò la galleria Sciarra, con queste immagini di vita domestica. Sono soprattutto immagini di donne: donne affettuose, materne, esperte padrone di casa, ma anche capaci di risplendere nella società dell'epoca.

Varie gentildonne romane, amiche di Cellini, fecero da modelle.
