I hope, in this condensed account of Metal and MetalWorking in Old Japan, I have not altogether failed indemonstrating the versatility as an artist, and the skill as ahandicraftsman, of the Japanese worker in metals. Correctadaptation of his designs to the nature of the material heemployed, and to the forms he ornamented, distinguish all hiswork.
