Description
Deutsch: Das Mess-Festival am 13. Juni 1971 in der Hofheimer St. Bonifatius-Kirche erregte bundesweites Aufsehen. Über 650 Jugendliche waren am 13. Juni 1971 der Einladung des Bezirksjugendpfarrers Herbert Leuninger und dessen Team zum sogenannten Mess-Festival nach Hofheim im Taunus (Bistum Limburg) gefolgt. Durch die Ausrichtung eines christlichen Festivals mit Eucharistiefeier, Agape, geselligem Beisammensein mit Musik und Tanz sowie einer Podiumsdiskussion sollte die Kirche vor Ort in einer neuen, den Bedürfnissen der Jugendlichen entsprechenden Form gottesdienstlichen Feierns und kirchlichen Miteinanders erfahrbar werden. Schnell wurde das innovative pastoral-liturgische Konzept, das durch die mediale Berichterstattung bundesweit Aufsehen erregte, zur Zerreißprobe diözesaner Einheit. Der Limburger Bischof Wilhelm Kempf musste sich zwischen konziliarer Begeisterung und Treue zum Lehramt der Kirche positionieren und geriet dabei selbst ins Kreuzfeuer innerkirchlicher und theologischer Auseinandersetzung.
