Eldest son of the Rev. Havilland Durand M.A. Rector of St Mary de Castro and Chaplain to H.M. Forces in this Island. Born 11th December 1836, died 13 March 1911 Served in the Indian Mutiny Campaign of 1857-58-59 in the Afghan Campaign of 1867-68 and the Afghan Campaign of 1880 where he commanded a field column. A distinguished and upright soldier. |
