Summary
[edit]DescriptionMegalosaurus unguals.jpg |
Original file description: Ungual phalanges of Megalosaurus(?); nat. size. Fig. 1. Inside view. From the Wealden Sand, Tilgate, Sussex. In the British Museum. Note: As indicated by the question mark in the plate description, already Owen was not sure about the assignment of these unguals to Megalosaurus. Since these fossils are from the Lower Cretaceous of Sussex and since Megalosaurus is considered to be stratigraphically restricted to the Middle Jurassic[1] these fossils very likely do not belong to Megalosaurus but to another theropod genus.
