Title
Medieval finger ring
Description
English: A plain gold finger ring of late Medieval to early post-Medieval date. D-section hoop. The ring is in very good condition with some minor nicks and scratches visible. There are no inscriptions or markings on either the inner or outer surface.

The ring was found during excavations by Birmingham Archaeology. It was found in a context dated to the 15th or 16th century, and is made of gold. Given its material and age, it qualifies as treasure under The Treasure Act 1996.

Other finds from this context were pottery, iron and animal bone. Although useful in dating the context in which the ring was found, it is unlikely that these other finds will also be considered treasure.
