Description |
English: Post medieval buckle; cast copper alloy buckle frame of late 16th or 17th century date. Asymmetrical double looped buckle with one rectangular loop and one D-shaped loop. The frame is expanded at the apex of the D-shaped loop and formed to a point. This part of the frame is decorated with incised transverse lines. There is a tubular sheath of copper alloy rolled around the back edge of the rectangular loop, for the pin to rest on. The pin is still present, formed of a simple strip of copper alloy, of D-shaped cross section, curled around the centre of the pin bar.
