Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A complete medieval copper alloy bar mount dating to c. 1350-1400. The bar mount is rectangular in shape, with rounded ends and elongated triangular knops. At each end there is a circular hole for a separate rivet. On the upper surface of the mount there are four traverse ridges, creating three raised rectangles along the mount. These are worn, it is possible that these were decorated with cross hatching. The grooves create a raised collar at each end before the rivet holes. The reverse of the mount is slightly hollow and concave. The mount is a dark brown colour, with patches of green patina. The mount measures 49.4mm in length, 7.3mm in width and 3.2mm in thickness. The mount weighs 6.05g.

The bar mount is similar to one shown in Read 2001, 23, 165.
