Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A medieval copper-alloy bar mount.

The parallel-sided bar is interrupted by a wider central hemisphere and also has a rounded lobe at either end. An incomplete copper-alloy rivet sits within a perforation in each of these lobes. An oblique groove extends across the flat underside of the mount's central hemisphere.

Length: 23.5mm; width: 8.8mm; thickness: 3.6mm. Weight: 1.35g.

Similar mounts were found in excavations in London, the majority in late 13th to mid-14th century levels, but with one from the second half of the 12th century (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 213/fig. 134, nos. 1154-1158).
