Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A late Medieval copper-alloy bar mount. The mount has a sub-oval lobe at the centre, the convex upper surface of which is decorated with four parallel, transverse grooves, the raised ridges between are incised to create a ropework effect. The central lobe is flanked by hemispherical projections containing the remains of 2 small iron rivets. The central lobe is hollow on the underside. Similar bar mounts are shown in Egan, Dress Accessories 1150-1450 (2002 ) p214, fig134 which are dated through ceramic association to 1350-1400 AD
