Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A copper-alloy bar mount of Medieval date.

The mount is rectangular in plan, has a convex upper surface and flat underside. At either end is an in situ copper-alloy rivet. The surface is corroded but retains traces of a dark green patina. The object measures 19.3mm long, 5.3mm wide and 1.8mm thick (not including the rivets). It weighs 1.32g.

Several bar mounts were found at Meols, Cheshire, where they were dated to the late 13th to early 15th centuries (Griffiths et al. 2007: 122).
