Title
Medieval bar mount
Description
English: A copper alloy medieval bar mount. The mount is rectangular in plan and D shaped in section with a flat back; the ends are bevelled. There is a short circular rivet approximately 2mm in from either side. Both rivets are seperate but hammered flush to the front surface and protrude through to the reverse face by approximately 1mm, terminating in old breaks. The mount is 14.4mm long by 5.0mm wide by 2.0mm thick and is brown in colour.

A very similar mount is illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (1993: 212, no.1138) from a late 13th to early 14th century context, they suggest such mounts were cut from longer bars and were popular through the entire period, c.1150-1450 AD (ibid:210-1).
