Medieval Belt Stiffener from Swinhope
Description
English: Copper alloy.

Belt stiffener (finder’s identification). Cast rectangular mount, of flattened plano-convex section with a rivet hole of diameter1.3mm towards each end, the rivet holes are wider, as if countersunk, c.2mm, on the reverse face. The convex surface is apparently smoothed by wear. Suggested date: Medieval, 1350-1500.

Length: 15.72mm, Width: 3.85mm, Thickness: 1.49gms, Weight: 0.50gms.
