Medieval Bar Mount
Description
English: A complete Medieval copper-alloy bar mount (c. 1150-c. 1450).

The central part of this mount is sub-oval in plan, domed at the front and concave at the rear. At each end there is an integral sub-oval terminal, convex at the front and flat at the rear. Each terminal is pierced with a circular hole for a separate copper-alloy rivet. The upper surface of the central oval part is decorated with three horizontal grooves creating two raised ridges.

This mount is corroded with traces of a greenish brown patina.

Height: 14.6mm; width: 8.1mm; thickness: 3.2mm. Weight: 1.04g.
