Title
Medieval Bar Mount
Description
English: A Medieval copper alloy bar mount, dating to the period AD 1350-1400. The mount is hemispherical in section, with a central circular lobe and two terminal lobes. The three lobes are hollowed out to the reverse and each of the terminals has a central rivet hole with fragments of separate copper alloy rivet remaining in both. The metal has a dark green patina and is fairly corroded, making any possible surface decoration difficult to discern. The mount measures 17.35mm in length, 7.83mm in width, is 2.99mm thick and weighs 1.12g.

Similar bar mounts are illustrated in Read (2001), in particular no. 157.
