Title |
Medieval Bar Mount |
||
Description |
English: A Medieval copper alloy bar mount, dating to the period AD 1350-1400. The mount is hemispherical in section, with a central convex lobe and two flat terminal lobes. The terminal lobes are hollowed to the reverse and each has a central rivet hole, with only one copper alloy rivet remaining in situ. The central lobe is decorated with three deep transverse grooves and light vertical grooves to give an appearance of hatching. The mount measures 16.10mm in length, 8.02mm in width, is 5.39mm thick and weighs 1.31g.
Similar bar mounts are illustrated in Read (2001), in particular no. 154. |
