Title
Medieval : Bar Mount
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy bar mount of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1400. The mount comprise a central lobe and two smaller terminal lobes projecting from narrowed collars. Both terminals have rivet holes, one of which retains its rivet. The central lobe is decorated with three crude transverse linear grooves resulting in a cross-hatched design. The reverse of the mount is concave and undecorated.

The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The mount is 15.6mm long, 7.9mm wide, 4.1mm thick and weighs 0.8g.

Similar mounts are illustrated in Egan's Dress Accessories p.214 and date from AD 1250 - 1400.
