Notes | Memorial Plaque, WW1 Commemorating the death of Private Norman Christopher, H Company 11th Reinforcements. Died of accidental death in New Zealand 23 February 1916. Norman Christopher, aged 34, joined up as a private on 4th January 1916. He died at Featherston Camp on 23rd February, while under anaesthetic for a dental operation. He was buried at the Karori Cemetery, Wellington. Although born in Auckland, Norman Christopher had been working at the Wellington General Post Office at the time of his enlistment. His mother Mrs Kate Christopher also lived in Wellington but died during the same year as her son. There were apparently no other immediate family members and Norman's medals were sent to the Town Clerk, Auckland City Council, and were presented to the Auckland Museum in 1927. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
