English: New Zealand Medal, New Zealand Wars (1860-1872) undated Medal awarded to Richard White Foreman, Patea Rangers circular silver medal; straight ornamental (fern fronds) swiveling suspender; with ribbon obverse- diademed head of Queen Victoria with a veil covering the back of her head; around the head is the legend- VICTORIA - D - G - BRITT - REG - F - D reverse- at centre a laurel wreath; above and below are the words- NEW ZEALAND - VIRTUTIS HONOR (Honour of Valour) ribbon- dark blue with a red stripe (10mm wide) down centre named on edge- R.W. FOREMAN. PATEA RANGS.

Notes New Zealand Medal, New Zealand Wars (1860-1872) Medal awarded to Private Richard White Foreman, Patea Rangers Richard Foreman served as a private with the Patea Rangers for 18 months, 1865-66. He had also served with the Taranaki Militia (1864-5), and later with the Carlyle Rifle Volunteers (South Taranaki, 1868-70). His initial medal claim was made in 1871, and in 1913 he applied for and received a duplicate medal. Medal claim details- Actions claimed- Pipiriki July 1865, Opotiki 1865-66, Kiorekino 4th October 1865, Koingo, Waimana 20th October 1865, Pokaikai2nd August 1866, Ketemarae 2nd September 1866, Otautu 13th March 1869, Whakamara bush pursuit March 1869.
