Notes Crimea Medal 1854-56 with two bars We believe that this is the medal awarded to Lieutenant Commander William Horton, Royal Navy. Horton definitely received a bar for Azoff, and possibly also the Sebastopol bar. bars- Sebastopol- 11th Sept 1854 - 9th Sept 1855 Azoff- 25th May - 22nd September 1855 The Diary of WL Clowes recording events during the 1854-56 Russian (Crimean) War noted "A lull in the weather enabled me to put to sea on July 13th for a sweep round the Sea of Azof, the Ardent, Weser and Clinker being left under the orders of Lieutenant Horton (Lieut. Wm Horton, promoted as Commander on 18.8.1855) to harass Genitchi and Arabat."
