Deutsch: Auf der linken Seite Orden verschiedener Nationen, die am ersten Weltkrieg beteiligt waren: Eisernes Kreuz (D), Pour le mérite (F), Hosenbandorden(GB),Zaristisches Verdienstkreuz (RU). Rechts die deutsche Kriegsflagge, die auf der Rückseite der Medaille in ein Leichentuch übergeht.
English: On the left side orders of different nations, which were involved in the First World War: Iron Cross (D), Pour le mérite (F), Order of the Garter (GB), Tsarist Cross of Merit (RU). On the right the German war flag, which changes into a shroud on the back of the medal.
