Description
English: A German Messerschmitt Me 323 Gigant transport plane flown by Obfw. Walter Honig from II/TG 5 (KG zbV II/323) under attack off Cape Corse, Corsica, on 30 July 1943 by a Martin Baltimore Mark I, flown by the Commanding Officer of No. 14 Squadron RAF, Wing Commander W. Maydwell. The aircraft crash-landed on the shore and disintegrated, but the crew survived. Both pilots survived the war and became friends in 1982.
