[edit]DescriptionMayfield Cannon.jpg |
English: Cannon in Mayfield High Street.
The sign reads: "The Mayfield Cannon. The gun was probably cut during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, at Mayfield Furnace which was owned by Sir Thomas Gresham from about 1567 to 1579. The Mayfield Local History Society restored the cannon in 1977 to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II. This plaque was presented by the Treasurers of the Royal Armourers, 1991." |
