Description
Deutsch: Der äußerlich unscheinbare Kirchenbau wurde von der 450 verstorbenen Kaiserin zu ihren Lebzeiten veranlasst und vollendet. Dass er als ihr Mausoleum gedacht war, muss dahingestellt bleiben, begraben wurde sie dort aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach nicht. Die kleine Kirche wurde vielmehr dem Hl. Laurentius gewidmet. Das Mosaik auf dem Bild nimmt Bezug auf die biblische Aussage vom "Guten Hirten". Die zackigen Einschnitte im Bildvordergrund unten sind wohl als Felsabstürze zu deuten.
