Неизвестный художник первой четверти 19 века Портрет Матвея Ивановича Платова на коне М.И. Платов (I751—I8I8) — генерал от кавалерии, атаман донских казаков. Воевал в войсках Суворова, участвовал в штурме Очакова и Измаила, где проявил исключительную отвагу. Во время Отечественной войны 1812 года командовал отрядом казаков в двадцать тысяч сабель, прославился в сражениях, был награжден многочисленными орденами и графским титулом. Платов сопровождал Александра 1 при поездке в Англию, где был удостоен исключительных почестей. Лондон преподнес ему драгоценную саблю. Оксфордский университет — почетный диплом доктора наук. В его честь называли новорожденных, дамы выпрашивали у Платова прядки волос, чтобы носить их в медальонах «на счастье». |
