English: Capt. Luke Hudspeth, platoon leader in Battery B, 1st Battalion, 6th
Field Artillery Regiment, TF Centaur, helped coordinate the security and logistics for the Matun elders security shura held Nov. 20 on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Afghanistan. The Denton, Texas, native listens in as the shura's moderator facilitates discussion among the group. The elders were meeting for the first time to discuss their issues with leaders from the government and security forces. TF Centaur, a Fort Knox, Ky.-based unit that is part of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Task Force Duke worked closely with the elders to make the shura a reality. Previous efforts to meet had been complicated by the unstable security situation that had plagued the area for years. |
