Description
Deutsch: Maternus-Bildstock: In einer Nische der Hochwasserschutzmauer an der Rheinuferpromenade steht eine Statue des Hl. Maternus, Schutzpatron vor Hochwasserfluten und zugleich Schutzheiliger von Rodenkirchen. Eine erste Statue wurde an dieser Stelle 1773 von Karthäusermönchen aufgestellt. Die heutige Statue stammt aus dem Jahre 1992 und wurde vom Bildhauer Ernst Thomas Reimbold angefertigt
English: Maternus wayside shrine: A statue of St. Maternus, patron saint of floods and also patron saint of Rodenkirchen, stands in a niche of the flood protection wall on the Rhine promenade. A first statue was erected at this site in 1773 by Carthusian monks. The present statue dates from 1992 and was made by the sculptor Ernst Thomas Reimbold.
