The Maternity Statue

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A closeup of the maternity statue in front of the maternity ward at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. It shows a sculpture of a mother breastfeeding her infant while creating melodies with her young son as he plays with the rattle to calm his sibling. Also, due to this period of COVID-19, every statue and monument in the state having a human form has a face mask with the state's crest on it. This subtle act from the state government serves as a message to encourage us (the people) follow the Coronavirus protective guidelines and stay safe at all times. In this statue, both her and her young son have their masks on. This represents the love and care of a mother, health, protection, and wellness.
