Summary
[edit]DescriptionMarwolaeth Tref^ - The Death of a Town^ - geograph.org.uk - 644321.jpg |
English: Marwolaeth Tref? - The Death of a Town? Pwllheli is a small market town which serves a largely rural area where incomes are low. There are currently more empty shops than most people can ever remember. Several went out of business in the two weeks before Christmas 2007, including this office supplies shop.
Factors cited include the opening of a town-centre Asda supermarket, a massive increase in parking charges and the appointment of a team of over enthusiastic parking wardens. The abolition of free parking over Christmas and the absence of Christmas lights in Stryd Fawr and Stryd Penlan have only served to depress business further.
