Description
English: Maru Ganesh or Ashoka Vinayak Temple on the right side of Marutol near Kashtmandap in Hanumandhoka area of Kathmandu district. The four Ganesha temples of Nepal are Surya Vinayak, Karyabinayak, Jalvinayak and Ashoka Vinayak i.e. the temple of Maru Ganesha. The characteristic of this Ganesha temple is that it does not pass. Dharmanarayan Salmi had built the temple before Jung Bahadur became the Prime Minister. There used to be a very big Ashoka tree on the site of this temple. As it is under the same tree, it is called Ashoka Vinayak. According to the red seal inscription of 1857 BS, this temple is considered to be very old. Hindus worship in this Ganesha temple saying that they are successful in doing any business or new work. As there is a bar of Ganesha in this temple on Tuesday, it is very crowded with devotees.
