Italiano: Martirio di San'Orsola di Filippo Vitale, 1650 ca. Olio su tela. 100x75 cm. Collezione privata.
The painting was acquired in 2020 by the Fondazione De Chiara De Maio of Solofra (AV), returning to Italy after more than three centuries of residence in Spain. The work was in the possession of Prince Sebastián Gabriel of Bourbon (1811-1875), who purchased it during his stay in Naples and then brought it to Madrid. The already large collection of the Infant of Spain, was further enriched with the works brought in dowry by the first and second wife, Maria Amalia of Naples and Maria Cristina of Bourbon. Among the authors represented in its heritage: Goya, Greco, Alonso Cano, Ribera, Velázquez, Murillo, Rosso Fiorentino. The work "appreciable for its denotative vigour, ideally refers to the last painting by Caravaggio, with the same subject, kept at Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano in Naples".
