Description
The regiment was formed in 1657 and was renamed several times. The name by 1830 was in honour of the Danish crown prince. When he became king Kristian VII in 1839, the regiment became Kongens Regiment (The King's Regiment). In 1842 the Danish Army was reorganized, and it became the 6th Batallion.
