L'abbaye de Fontenay. La vaste tour massive du colombier paraît remonter au XIIIe ou XIVe siècle. Sous l'ancien régime, seuls les seigneurs et les communautés religieuses avaient le droit d'élever des pigeons. La viande de pigeon était consommée fraîche, alors que la viande bovine, ovine et porcine était salée. La fiente de pigeon était un engrais recherché: la colombine ou poulnée. Tous les châteaux possédait au moins un colombier. Les abbés étant des seigneurs féodaux, il y avait des colombiers dans les abbayes. vaste tour massive du colombier paraît remonter au XIIIe ou XIVe siècle. |
