[edit]DescriptionMarconi UHF radio communication system at the Vatican 1933.jpg |
English: Antenna of Guglielmo Marconi's 600 MHz experimental 30 mile radiotelephone link between the Vatican and the Pope's summer home at Castel Gandolfo. This parabolic antenna composed of resonant dipoles was on the roof of the Vatican annex, and transmitted a narrow beam of radio waves 30 miles (48 kilometres) to a similar antenna connected to a receiver at Castel Gandolfo. This was one of the first long distance UHF radio communication systems. |
