English: Smith Corona Marchant F80
The Smith Corona Marchant F80 is an arithmetic calculator with algebraic logic. It has 18 keys, and a 8 digits Burroughs Nixie tubes display. The power source is an sealed battery pack.To power up the unit, the keyboard cover is moved to the front, so that the keyboard is fully exposed, and the cover over the display panel flips up to reveal the display. In the same time, a small rocker-type power switch moves itself to the "ON" position, thus powering up the portable calculator. The SCM Marchant F80 has been introduced in the late fall of 1970 for $495, and is one of the earliest so-called "hand-held" portable, rechargeable battery-powered calculators produced at the time. Manufactured by Marchant Group, Oakland California, USA, 1971. |
