Description
English: Five men on the near bank of the River Bealey with a ladder propped against a telegraph pole. They are sending a parcel of food across the river via the telegraph wires to M. P. Ihaiah Tainui on the other side. Also on the other side are a woman, presumably Mrs Tainui, with a babe-in-arms and a child. In the distance to the right is a stranded coach. Ihaiah Tainui was Member of the House of Representatives for Southern Maori, 1879-1880.
