[edit]DescriptionMansfield House - geograph.org.uk - 647448.jpg |
English: Mansfield House One of the most interesting buildings in Harrogate, Mansfield House is located on the east side of Church Square and was the first Theatre in the developing town. Built in 1778 for Samuel Butler and his theatre company, the building was paid for by Mrs Wilks of the nearby Granby Hotel, who had been promoting theatre performances in the hotel's barn. The theatre closed in 1830 and was subsequently converted into a house. |
