Mammillaria gigantea - flowering
- Description
- Photograph of a flowering M. gigantea. The cactus is roughly spherical in shape, and covered in pyramidal structures supporting a spine at the apex. At a "latitude" of 45 degrees "north" of the cactus' "equator", there is a ring of flowers and flower buds emerging from between the pyramidal structures. The flowers are satiny and pink.
NOTE: Anderson's description of M. gigantea says the flowers are yellowish-green, not pink.
