Description
English: in 1904, this image of a dresser appeared in the Tacoma Times, along with instructions on how to make it from a packing box.
  • Text: The dresser, though it is an eyesore to the bachelor girl, cannot, without too great inconvenience, be entirely done away with. A corner cabinet, if carefull made from a large packing box, need not be less than an ornament to the room. The box should be divided into compartments. The upper space filled at the very front with a framed mirror fitting into the opening and securely fastenede. Below the mirror is a shelf upon which may be kept the brushes, combs, pin trays, etc. Just below another shelf may be used for powder boxes, glove boxes, ribbon boxes and handkerchief boxes.
The two lower compartments can be used for various articles that are necessary, and which cannot well be placed upon the crowded closet shelf. Across the back can be hung pockets made of denim. These pockets can be used for shoes, slippers and other articles. And in front of the pockets there will be room for other accessories which must be stowed away. That these articles may be securely shut away, a second curtain with rod at top and bottom should be hung from the top shelf to the floor.
