Description
Simple English: It is the only work remaining from the Byzantine period in Üsküdar. Its history dates back to the first century BC. It was used as a tomb and customs station during the Byzantine period. In the Ottoman period, it was used for many purposes, from the show platform to the defense castle, from the exile station to the quarantine room. His main duty is to guide people with his lantern and he has never lost this duty. It was later restored and used for tourism purposes today.
Türkçe: Üsküdar'da Bizans devrinden kalan tek eserdir. Tarihi MÖ I. yüzyıla kadar uzanır. Bizans döneminde mezar ve gümrük istasyonu olarak kullanılmıştır. Osmanlı döneminde ise gösteri platformundan savunma kalesine, sürgün istasyonundan karantina odasına kadar birçok amaçla kullanılmıştır. Asıl görevi feneri ile insanlara yol göstermektir ve bu görevini hiç yitirmemiştir. Sonrasında restore edilerek günümüzde turizm amacıyla kullanılmaktadır.
