Description

This 1975 image depicts the Mahabodhi Temple, which is the main Buddhist temple located at Bodh Gaya, or the holy pilgrimage site, in the Gaya district inside the Indian State of Bihar.

The image was captured sometime in January or February, 1975, by Centers for Disease Control Bureau of State Services personnel during a smallpox immunization tour.
