Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Stylized map of the northern fortifications in Maastricht, the Netherlands. This part of the fortifications (Nieuwe Bossche Fronten) was largely rebuilt in 1815-1821. Some older parts (2, 3, 4 and 5) were re-used; the bastions A, B, C and D and the ravelins a, b and c were new. The fortress Fort Willem I (1) was also added at this time. The fortifications could be inundated, using water from the river Meuse (I) or, through a canal, from the small river Jeker in the south. Zuid-Willemsvaart (II) and Bassin (III) were built between 1821 and 1826.
