August 13, 2016 Lincoln Center plaza New York, NY Composed by David Lang. Conducted by Simon Halsey. Movement by Annie-B. Parson. This composition for voices (no instruments) was billed a piece for 1000 voices. Although it was a steamy, sweaty day (said to feel like 105 degrees), the performers did a great job. It was an oddly stirring work about how we all can come together from the things we share in common. For the first half of the piece I watched from above, from the balcony of David Geffen Hall. For the second half. I wandered amongst the singers on the plaza. www.stevenpisano.photo |
