Description

Minister-president Rutte bezoekt de Giovanni van Bronckhorst Academy. In dit leercentrum, dat is gevestigd in voetbalstadion De Kuip, krijgen leerlingen uit het Rotterdamse basisonderwijs les met als doel hun leerachterstand in te lopen. De minister-president heeft tijdens het bezoek een rondleiding gekregen en sprak met leerlingen en hun begeleiders.

De Giovanni van Bronckhorst Academy is gebaseerd op het concept ‘Playing for Success’. Dit concept is in 1997 in Engeland ontwikkeld door een samenwerkingsverband van overheid en sportclubs. De uitvoeringsorganisatie ‘Playing for Success Nederland’ heeft inmiddels verschillende centra geopend met een na- en buitenschools programma voor onderpresterende kinderen.
