Summary
[edit]DescriptionMünster partition 1802.jpg |
English: Map from 1803 showing how the territory of the large Prince-Bishopric (Hochstift) of Münster was partitioned in 1802 in the course of the German Mediatization that saw all the prince-bishoprics save one secularized. The northern half (the Niederstift) was divided between the dukes of Oldenburg (aqua) and Arenberg (purple), while the larger part of the central and southern half (the Oberstift), comprising the city of Münster, was taken by Prussia (pink), the balance being divided between lesser rulers such as the princes or counts of Rhena-Wolbeck (yellow), Salm-Salm (green), Croÿ/Salm-Kyrburg (light purple) and Salm-Grumbach. |
