| Description |
Español: Mayor Máximo Blanco Rodríguez, héroe costarricense de la Campaña Nacional de 1856-1857. Fue el encargado de la toma de la vía del tránsito sobre el río San Juan entre diciembre de 1856 y abril de 1857, lo cual fue determinante para el triunfo centroamericano en la guerra contra los filibusteros de William Walker. Posteriormente, junto a Lorenzo Salazar, derrocó al presidente Juan Rafael Mora Porras en 1860, al que posteriormente fusiló tras derrotarlo en la Batalla de la Angostura, Puntarenas, en septiembre de 1860. Por una década, Blanco y Salazar controlaron el país hasta que fueron depuestos por Jesús Jiménez Zamora en 1868. |
