Summary
[edit]DescriptionLutyens' steps and pub, Cockington. - geograph.org.uk - 1149110.jpg |
English: Lutyens' steps and pub, Cockington. The Drum Inn at Cockington and its garden were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and finished in 1936. Many of his designs have steps as a landscaping feature.
[Addition March 2009] A Palladio exhibition at the Royal Academy includes a model of his 1542 design for the Villa Pisani, Bagnolo - and it has a very similar design for a flight of steps with semicircles getting smaller to a circle half way up, then semicircles getting larger to the top. |
